Royal-like Icing with no Eggs!
I don't like using raw egg whites for my Royal Icing. This year I couldn't find gluten-free, celiac safe meringue powder anywhere. So, I tried this Royal-Like icing using light corn syrup and it worked out really well.
Royal-Like Icing
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1 Tablespoon light corn syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
- 4 or more cups icing sugar
Directions
- Mix the warm water and light corn syrup till combined
- Add your flavouring
- Add icing sugar and mix until you have the thickness you like
You can use it as is or add food colouring. I will be using this recipe for my gingerbread houses and sugar cookies from now on. Have you tried it? What did you think?
