Looking for Gluten-Free Udon? Check out Kouji Cafe Plus One in Shibuya

gluten-free udon on a tray with toppings at Kouji Cafe plus One in Shibuya Japan

Are you in Japan or planning a trip there? If you are in Tokyo do check out Kouji Cafe plus One's gluten-free udon. It is so delicious! The broth is very tasty and the noodles are great, not overly soft, they have a nice bite to them. The egg was perfectly done.

Located next to the Rice Hack Gluten-Free Bakery in a quiet residential neighbourhood, about a 15 minute walk from Omotesando street at 5-16-5 Jingumae, Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. It is a small cafe with about 5 tables. Lovely interior and very friendly staff. If you buy something to drink here, you can order gluten-free baked goods from the Rice Hack Gluten-Free Bakery next door and eat them in this cafe. Check out my review of the Rice Hack Gluten-Free Bakery.

This is not a 100% gluten-free cafe. Above is a photo of the gluten-free udon. The staff were great at letting me know what was and what wasn't gluten-free. The menu was in english. This cafe serves smoothies with kouji or koji which is fermented rice. Koji powder is good for your digestion. Not all drinks are gluten-free, so do ask the staff. When I was there they all spoke english. For information on the koji powder, check out the Fresh Company website.

I couldn't find a website for the cafe, but did find their instagram page. I will visit again next time I'm in the area. Have you been here? What was your experience like?
